QTP stands for QuickTest Professionals, it is a automated functional testing tool. It was designed by Mercury Interactive and later acquired by the HP – Hewlett Packard.
QTP tool helps the testers to perform an automated functional testing seamlessly, without monitoring, once script development is complete.
The HP QTP uses Visual Basic Scripting or VBScript for automating the applications. The Scripting Engine is available as a part of the Windows OS.
